Career with a Future

The February 18, 2002 issue of US News and World Report featured Speech-Language Pathology as one of eight careers to count on. The magazine reported that the median salary for speech-language pathologists working in school settings (9 months) was $42,500 and $45,000 for those working in private practice (12 months). What more, it specifically noted that speech-language pathologists have high job satisfaction.

The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) also projects an excellent future for the profession of speech-language pathology. From the year 2000 to 2010 the BLS projects a 39% growth in employment for speech-language pathologists. The BLS furthermore expects the employment of speech-language pathologists to "grow much faster than the average".
