The February 18, 2002 issue
of US News and World Report featured Speech-Language
Pathology as one of eight careers to count on.
The magazine reported that the median salary for
speech-language pathologists working in school
settings (9 months) was $42,500 and $45,000 for
those working in private practice (12 months).
What more, it specifically noted that speech-language
pathologists have high job satisfaction.
The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) also
projects an excellent future for the profession
of speech-language pathology. From the year 2000
to 2010 the BLS projects a 39%
growth in employment for speech-language pathologists.
The BLS furthermore expects the employment of
speech-language pathologists to "grow
much faster than the average".
