Dr. Mikael Kimelman is the founding Chairperson and
an Associate Professor in the Department of Speech-Language
Pathology. He received his doctorate from the
University of Wisconsin-Madison, his master's
degree from the University of Florida, and his
bachelor's degree from the California State University,
Hayward. Before coming to Duquesne University,
Dr. Kimelman held faculty appointments at the
University of Toronto and the Louisiana State
University Medical Center in New Orleans.
Dr. Kimelman's research focuses on understanding
how people process and comprehend the language
that they hear. He studies people who have auditory
comprehension problems following brain damage.
Dr. Kimelman has been a speech-language pathologist
since 1980 and has had extensive clinical and
supervisory experience across a variety of settings.
