Career or Major Change

How does the program at Duquesne University meet the needs of students who are switching majors or making a career change? Each transfer student is treated individually, with the goal of integrating him or her into the five-year guaranteed seat program. Typically, after submitting an application, there are three basic steps leading towards admission:

  • We will review an applicant's previous coursework and determine if any pre-professional courses need to be completed in preparation for the professional phase of the program.

  • Academic advisors, in consultation with the Department, work with each applicant to develop a plan of study that insures full preparation to meet the challenges of the professional phase of the program.

  • Based on previous coursework and the individualized plan of study, a graduation date is projected that allows the applicant join a group of other students with the same anticipated graduation date.
