The Duquesne University Speech-Language-Hearing Clinic
is a modern, fully equipped clinic that serves
the greater Pittsburgh community. People of all
ages, races, religions, and ethnic backgrounds,
from all walks of life, and with all types of
communication disorders come to the Clinic for
assessment and treatment.
Clients are billed or their insurance is charged
for Clinic services. In support of the Department,
School, and University mission, a liberal sliding
fee payment scale is available. This insures access
to these valuable services for all members of
the Pittsburgh community. Additionally, the Clinic
is supported by fundraising done by the Duquesne
University chapter of the Delta
Zeta sorority.
The Clinic is organized around
several specialty programs including:
- Adult Neurogenics (aphasia, brain injury,
dysarthria)
- Language Disorders
- Stuttering (pediatric, adolescent, adult)
- Articulation and Phonology
- Voice Disorders
- Auditory Processing and Aural Rehabilitation
Supporting the specialty programs
are eight spacious treatment rooms equipped with
state-of-the-art video and audio equipment to
record therapy sessions. This not only allows
students to watch and critique themselves, but
also helps insure that no data from a session
are missed. Each treatment room is adjacent to
an observation room, allowing clinical instructors,
members of client’s families, and students to
watch therapy via a see-through mirror. Additionally,
there is a combined client computer and AAC lab,
joint hearing testing and voice recording/analysis
facilities, and a variety of student resources.
